A beautiful antique lavalier necklace from the Edwardian era, c1910's! Made of 9ct yellow gold, this delightful antique necklace has an eye-catching chandelier design with three slender pendants draping from a double-circular centerpiece, bedecked with garnet top doublet stones and little white seed pearls.
The delicate Edwardian necklace pops with four vibrant red garnet top doublet stones, and there are eight white seed pearls dotted to the tulip-esque and circular embellishments... adding a gorgeous contrast with the red stones! The centerpiece attaches to an original cable link chain and barrel style clasp fastens securely. The chain appears to have been lengthened at the back neck at some stage. No stamps are sighted to the necklace, likely due to the delicacy of the design, albeit tests indicate 9ct yellow gold.
The elegant design is reminiscent of early Australian designs - very similiar lavalier styles can be found in the Australian Jewellers book by Cavill/Cocks/Grace.
Wearable length of the necklace measures 16.50" (42cm), and the centerpiece drop is 2" (5.00cm).

The antique necklace presents in excellent condition. Besides general surface wear, the garnets are intact and secure. All seed pearls appear original, and securely set. Embellishments are undamaged. Upon close up view, the chain looks to have had two small successful solder repairs throughout it's time (not noticed to the naked eye). Clasp works well with firm click when fastened. A wonderful antique necklace! |
