A rare vintage Scottish brooch steeped with oodles of highland whisky history! Made of sterling silver this striking brooch (or pendant with O ring) depicts an arrow with bright Scottish themed enamel to the central anchor. This beautifully crafted brooch is a piece of advertisement history for the Inverness region whisky distillery company, William Grigor & sons. In the 1930's the company used the slogan "GRIGOR FOR VIGOR" for their advertising tagline, which can be clearly seen to the back of the brooch, along with "SCOTCH WHISKY" underneath the bar attachment. Furthermore the brooch is stamped with a crisp set of English hallmarks; the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver, date letter N for year 1936, along with the maker's mark 'V & S' which is that of Vaughton & Sons. An interesting pin mechanism is riveted to the back where one end can be detached and swiveled to view 'SCOTCH WHISKY'. Excellent unpolished condition.

The brooch measures 6.50cm (2 & 1/2") long

The vintage brooch presents in excellent condition. Besides general surface wear, the brooch has no enamel loss and back pin works well. The piece retains a light tarnish adding further antiquity character, this can be polished if you desire. A unique and distinct brooch!
