A stunning antique Scottish brooch from the Mid-Victorian era, c1867! Hand wrought in sterling silver, the open diamond-shaped brooch features a central Cairngorm Quartz, bordered with four golden yellow citrine stones and four bloodstone agate segments.
Sitting proudly in an upswept scalloped prong setting is a faceted round cut greyish-brown Cairngorm Quartz stone. Native to Scotland's Cairngorm mountains, the beautiful stone measures approx. 15.80mm, and the estimated weight of the Cairngorm is 10.00 carats. The diamond-shaped border is decorated with forest green bloodstone inlays, and a bright golden yellow bezel-set citrine stone accents each corner square. The design is beautifully finished with flourishes of hand engraving. A sturdy pin and c-catch attaches to the back. There is also the rare 'Kitemark' to the back giving us the date the design was registered in Britian; year 1867, day 29, the month is difficult to dechiper.
Size of the piece measures 5.20cm (just over 2" inches) tip to tip.
