This exquisite antique gold and French jet brooch, dating back to the early 19th century, is a stunning example of Georgian-era mourning jewellery. Crafted from 9ct gold, the brooch features a miniature rectangular shape adorned with a halo of black French jet stones, encircling a braided hairwork centerpiece beneath a dome glass cover.
The reverse of the brooch is inscribed with "T.R, Obt 23d April 1814," commemorating a dearly departed individual.
The antique brooch measures 2.50cm long x 1.70cm wide.
