A wonderful vintage marcasite necklace from the mid 20th century, c1940! Made of sterling silver, this beautiful vintage necklace consists of five Orchid flowers suspended at the front. Each flower is exquisitely detailed in three-dimensional form with flowing and varied shaped petals including the central column, and all bedecked with sparkling marcasite gems!
The flowers are attached to the original 'snail' chain with the older barrel tube clasp (retaining a nice click when fastened). No stamps are sighted to the piece, which is not unusual for some of the older marcasite pieces - the piece tests sterling silver.
Total length of the necklace measures 42cm (16.5"), and flowers measure 3cm x 2.50cm.

| The overall condition of the necklace is very good. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent stone loss or damage to the stones. All links appear securely attached with no link wear/thinning evident. A darkened patina remains to the silver surface, adding a nice contrast (this can be polished out if desired). A wonderful vintage necklace! |
