A stunning antique turquoise & pearl necklace from the Edwardian era, c1910! Made of 15ct gold, this elegant negligee style necklace is decorated with pearls, turquoise stones and three-leaf motifs. Characteristic of the special negligee necklace, the elegant design features two slimline parallel pendants suspended and draping on the neckline at different lengths, giving a nice asymmetry look. The fine wire pendants suspend from further fine wire - all beautifully accented with bluish green natural cabochon turquoise stones, two natural 'free-form' Keshi pearls (adding a wonderful uniqueness!), as well as three natural white seed pearls adorning each of the six leaf motifs. The necklace is complete with an original cable link chain and spring clasp at the back neck. Stamped to the reverse of two of the leaf profiles is "15CT" and "SBS", marks denoting 15ct gold and other is likely the makers mark.
Upon sale, the necklace will be presented in the Edwardian black leather case.Lined with dark blue velvet and silk, it was acquired with the necklace and is likely original to the piece.
The necklace measures 42cm (16.5") in total length, and longest pendant measures 6.50cm (2&1/2") long.

The antique necklace presents in excellent condition. Besides general surface wear, the gold and motifs are securely attached with rings firmly closed and no damage noted to any components. The stones are all original to the piece and securely set - one turquoise stone does bear a surface reaching flaw, though not detrimental to setting security. Clasp works well with good spring tension. A wonderful antique piece! |
