A stunning blue guilloche enamel egg pendant necklace from the early 21st century! Made of sterling silver with a lovely gold-wash 'gilded' finish, this gorgeous egg pendant was likely purchased as a souvenir from an eminent jewellers in St Peterburg, Russia, 20 or so years ago.
The a la Faberge egg pays homage to the predecessor; Carl F Faberge eggs, with the little work of art featuring vibrant blue guilloche enamel and a relief Imperial wreath design to both sides.
The egg attaches on its original suspension loop and exhibits the Russian 'Kokoshnik' mark (women's head facing right) alongside '925' denoting sterling silver and the 'Kokoshnik' style mark indicating post year 1994. Other marks are in Cyrillic - translating to 'BL'; 'B' indicating year 2002 birth and L for St Petersburg (prior Leningrad), alongside an 'anchor' mark. The anchor mark was a customized hallmark permitted to very few Russian manufacturers and was likely made by one of the largest and oldest jewellery enterprises in Russia; Russkiye Samotsvety, which utilizes the anchor hallmark. The company was founded by Emperor Nicholas ll in 1912 and today recognized as masters in centuries-old traditions of the famous Russian Jewellery School. *Hallmarks researched from the World Hallmarks book, Volume 1.
An Italian 18" gilt sterling box style necklace perfectly complements the egg pendant.
Stemming from a long-standing tradition, these eggs have come to symbolize new beginnings and the rejuvenation of life.
