A timeless ladies solid sterling silver bangle from the Victorian era, year 1887 to be precise! Handmade before it's time, this classic design bangle was made by early Australian jewellery firm, Stevenson Brothers of Adelaide. The beautiful solid constructed bangle weighs a sturdy 35+ grams and was likely a bespoke Victorian piece gifted to 'Clara' - suggestive of the personalized hand engraved name "CLARA" (time-worn, but still decipherable!). Inside the bangle bears hallmarks "STEVENSON" "STG SILVER" along with a hand engraved date "Feb 1887". Up until around the first half of the 20th century Stevenson Brothers had become one of the most established South Australian jewellery houses in Adelaide. Acquired together, the bangle is accompanied with a CW Ottaway & Co box, and where it sold late last century! CW Ottaway jewellers was another prominent Adelaide 20th (& early 21st) century jewellery firm!
The bangle measures approx 4.30mm wide and 4.30mm thick, size measures 63mm across inside and 19.50cm around the inside (medium to large fit).
A wonderful antique sterling silver early Australian bangle, perfect for stacking!
