An impressive Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring from the mid 20th century, c1960! Beautifully hand made in 18ct yellow and white gold, this unique ring features a natural 2.16 carat Ceylon sapphire surrounded by a semi-circle of five dazzling graduated diamonds totalling 1.80 carats. The faceted round cut sapphire displays a lovely bright mid blue colour with subtle mauve overtone indicative of Ceylon type material. The various round brilliant cut and early brilliant cut diamonds graduate from 0.25 carats smallest to 0.62 carats largest. Each stone is set in white gold four-claw settings with the diamonds slightly tapered in height and interspaced on a knife-edge open spiral design around the central sapphire. A nice sturdy 4mm wide shank which forms into crossover shoulders (one side upswept forming the spiral design) makes up the rest of the ring. Stamped 'IW' (or similar) and '18CT' denoting 18ct gold.
Finger size of the ring measures P (Aus/UK) 8 (USA).
Upon purchase, the vintage ring would be accompanied by a photographic valuation certificate for insurances purposes, carried out independently by a registered NCJV/FGAA valuer. *The current insurance replacement value of the ring is $16,210 AUD.

The vintage ring presents in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no damage to the ring or stones, which all appear secure in their settings. Some light wear can be seen under magnification to the sapphire which is typical of the age. A gorgeous vintage ring! |
