An utterly divine pair of cased antique dangle earrings from the mid Victorian era, c1870! Made of 9ct gold the earrings feature a gorgeous matte yellow gilding which is in superb condition, and gives the appearance of a rich high-carat gold. The 3 dimensional design of the earrings exude a whimsical, yet elegant appearance which has wonderful Etruscan details. The Etruscan details include delicate granules and scalloped wirework in filigree form which wraps around the edges of the earrings. Etruscan revival jewellery was inspired by the Victorians after ancient jewellery had been unearthed in tombs just outside Rome.
Each earring suspends from simple wires which rest behind textured leaf profiles and domes. The larger oval links which elegantly hang below feature pretty purple garnets either side of a subtle green chrysoberyl gemstone. The glistening oval faceted gems are a ravishing combination in colour! Each gemstone is elevated in individual bezels and embellished with textured leaf profiles and granules atop. Dangling from the bottom are small leaf and granule embellished profiles featuring additional purple garnet gemstones which rest in each profile.
The Victorian earrings are in exceptional condition for their age. Accompanying the earrings is what appears to be the original earring case. The charming shield-shaped case features plush lining interior of plum colour velvet and silk. Just gorgeous!
An exceptionally wonderful pair of antique ear dangles. Perfect for the Victorian jewellery lover!
