There is something about the original vintage marcasite pieces which is very alluring and exudes gorgeous vintage character. It maybe the fact the original vintage marcasite pieces were hand-finished and the marcasites were delicately handset with minute claws (and not just glued marcasites and mass-produced, as today's pieces!). Or perhaps it's the attention to detail, or the natural darkened patina, rather than the distinct man-made oxidised finish of today...
Such a sweet marcasite dangle in the lobe these are! The original vintage earrings date back to around the 1950's-60's and are made in sterling silver. Complementary for night or day wear, the earrings have a lovely sway in the lobe and are a nice proportion- not too small, and not too big! The vintage earrings are encrusted with sparkly marcasite gems. A circular scalloped and tapered border surrounds a dangling 'forget-me-not' flower. Victorian inspired and so pretty! The marcasite gems are all hand-set with milgrain edging adding further vintage charm. There is a little fan-shaped stud which is also marcasite set and typical post and butterfly clips from behind make up the rest of earring. The older "ST. SIL" stamp is placed to butterfly clip.
