A pretty vintage opal brooch from the late Edwardian era, c1920! Made of of 9ct gold, a subdued yellow colour with warm rose gold highlights where the yellow wash is time-worn, adding further depth of character. The brooch boasts mesmerizing Australian opal doublet. The opal doublet features an attractive play of colour, displaying the full spectral colours with fluorescent flashes of red, orange, purple, green and blue ... all dancing beautifully in the daylight! The opal rests in a handmade bezel collet with milgrain edge, and rope border. A sweet floret profile decorates either either side of the opal, all resting on a knife-edge bar with bevel ends. A metal pin and safety-pin like catch makes up the rest of the brooch. A 9ct gold chain and pin connects to the back for extra security. Stamped '9C" to the back.
An elegant vintage brooch. A gorgeous little accessory for the high neck collar, jacket lapel, or scarf!
