This enchanting 15ct gold brooch dates back to late Victorian era, circa 1900. The beautiful flowing, sinuous lines reminiscent of Art Nouveau period (1890-1915).

Glowing centrally is a cabochon moonstone gemstone, it measures 11mm x 9.20mm and 5.60mm deep, estimated weight 3.68 carats. The shimmering moonstone is colorless with a subtle bluish-white sheen. It is fairly transparent with writing seen when viewed through top, examined under good lighting and 10x magnification. Some tiny inclusions are seen under magnification too. There are three irregular-shaped pearls measuring approx 3.5mm- 4.80mm, the variation in shape and 'cool to touch' (or 'cold flames' as old pearl divers used to say!) hints to me these pearls are natural. However, an x-ray examination has not been performed to accurately determine.

The brooch is stamped "15" and test indicates this as well. Also there is numbers engraved on the back '13788'- perhaps patent number. After close examination no makers marks are seen. Pin and 'C' shaped clasp on the reverse - pin is a rose colour and indicates 9ct gold when tested.

Overall this brooch is in superb antique condition!
