This stunning antique piece dates to late Victorian period, circa 1900. The feminine curvilinear flowery style is reminiscent of Art Nouveau period. Flowing sinuous lines, curled 'ribbons' along with tulips and a blooming flower form together beautifully in this cheerful organic design. Sure to receive compliments on the collar!
Set centrally in the flowers are six natural garnet gemstones of warm orange/brown tones. Accented along the 'ribbon, stem and petals are eighteen natural white seed pearls - three appear to have been replaced with cultured seed pearls at some stage. There is a pin and 'C' clasp on the reverse. A safety chain/pin is connected for extra security. Brooch is handcrafted in 9ct yellow gold, pin and safety chain/pin is not gold. Upon close inspection one of the tulip stems appear to be missing (the one which safety chain attaches to), thus priced accordingly.
The side of wire is stamped with an Australian makers hallmark of a 'unicorn', '9' and 'W'. This is the hallmark of T Willis and Sons Pty Ltd, Melbourne, used prior to the company adopting the Victorian Jeweller's Association mark in 1903.
An elegant antique brooch which would add a touch of class to any outfit!
