A delightful sterling silver antique purse this is! the detailed hand-engraving to both sides depicts beautiful swags of organic motifs with a bow motif at the bottom; both sides are engraved nearly the same, except for one side which has an un-monogrammed oval cartouche.
The hallmarks, placed to both sides, tells us this bag is Birmingham provenance, dated 1916, and makers mark- "EJH" indicates the maker as E J Houlston of once Caroline Street, Birmingham.
Tan leather interior is in exceptional condition - the leather scent still lingers. Purse appears to have had little use over the 100 years, the patina has been left and there are some very mild surface marks, overall, it is in superb antique condition.
This would make a wonderful gift for someone with an objet d'art fetish, or perhaps to add to your purse collection....
