Antique Victorian Granulated and Engraved Oval Locket

A fabulous gold locket from Victorian era c1880! A simple yet regal design which would suit with other jewels or look fabulous alone on the neck. A plain oval centre with grooved border is slightly raised, it is surrounded with a granulated alternate decoration. Front and back are identical. Adding further charm to this antique locket is the lovely wheat pattern hand- engraved along the edges. Wheat being a prolific symbol in Victorian times and often expressing everlasting life. The locket opens up to reveal two old photos - more than likely the original. The photo's depict a young girl and man. Original inner frame and inserts are all intact.

Locket back and front cover is 9ct gold, inner gilt frame.The gold colour is the charming antique rose hue- a subtle rose with yellow tinge.  A good sized locket on the neckline, measuring 1 3/4 length including bail.
