A fabulous late 19th century antique Victorian locket. The locket features an entwined silver applique encrusted with genuine turquoise and seed pearl gems. Surrounding motif is an ornately chased pattern. The reverse bears an hand engraved design- a pattern reminiscent of the Aesthetic movement. Enclosed is the original frame to both sides, and one original glass. Glass is broken diagonally across, seen more clearly at certain angles. The two pins used to secure the applique is visible underneath glass.
No hallmarks could be seen to locket, however an xrf test indicated 18ct gold, except for back cover (reverse side of gem set motif) which indicated gold filled. The colour gold from back to front is evident.
