A wonderful antique Scottish agate brooch from the late Victorian era, c1890! Made of sterling silver, the brooch features a cruciform motif atop of a open circle with four protruding straight sided sections. Scottish agate segments of dark green with red spotted bloodstone and reddish brown carnelian stone decorates the entire piece. There is also fanciful hand engraved patterns adorning the remaining silver front surface. An original pin and c-loop clasp attaches to the back. Similar designs of this Scottish cross brooch can be viewed in the wonderful Scottish Jewellery book by Diana Scarisbrick, pg 78.
