A wonderful vintage Japanese Damascene bracelet from the late Art Deco era, c1940! Made of brass and oxidized steel with 24k gold and silver highlights, this distinctive bracelet features an array of charming Japonesque scenes. The various scenes include butterflies, pagodas, birds, flowers and garden scenes. Each of the round scalloped scenic links are interspaced by small jump rings. A tongue clasp secures the bracelet and a safety chain is attached for extra security. The width of the bracelet measures 14mm and the total length of the bracelet measures 19cm (7.5") length.

The detailed damascene workmanship of each scene is hand chiseled into the darkened metal (oxidized steel) and the 24k gold and silver is inlaid into the chiseled design, again by hand. The result is striking, alike wearing beautiful art or stories. The English 'Damascene' term comes from a perceived resemblance to the rich tapestry patterns of damask silk.

A beautiful vintage bracelet, perfect for the lady who appreciates unique handmade vintage jewellery!

The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the links, damascene work and clasp which is secure and in good working condition. A lovely piece!
