This Victorian horseshoe brooch dates back to around c 1880. Symbols were very popular during the Victorian era with the horseshoe representing good luck, also horses were a way of life- a fact of daily existence whether it was travel, work or play. This silver horseshoe brooch is more than likely English origin. Front of brooch features 7 rectangle plaques which feature rose gold highlights. The substantial sized brooch measures 37.83mm/1.48" height x 34.83mm/ 1.37" wide. There are no stamps or hallmarks, however when tested indicated sterling silver.
