A wonderful antique cut-glass dresser jar from the Art Nouveau period, c1904! The jar features a sterling silver dome lid with gorgeous repousse work depicting florets and a labyrinth of flowing stylized lines... the graceful design characteristic of the Art nouveau era! The sterling silver lid fits smoothly on the neck. The decorative cut-glass, also known as 'hobnail' glass, has a lovely deep incised pattern - a very skilled and time consuming hand and lathe technique used at the time! The bottom is decorated with a nice starburst. The lid bears English hallmarks; Birmingham origin, dated 1904, and there is the makers mark "W & H" which is that of Walker & Hall (a renown large Silversmiths company based in Sheffield). A registration number can be seen to the top of the lid - "RD360157".

Today this little jar would make a perfect keeper for your delicate bits and bobs, it may also make a unique present for the antique lover!
