A vibrant antique pebble bracelet from the Victorian era, circa 1870! Hailing from Scotland and entirely hand-wrought in sterling silver, this Victorian bracelet comprises of six gorgeous carved agate links. The Scottish sourced agate stones include banded, carnelian and bloodstone with stunning earthy tones of orange, reddish brown, green, dark brown and white … all amalgamating beautifully! The varied carved agate shapes include flowers, three-sided dome and smaller square 'pyramid'. The agates rest in sterling wire frames, four of the links are accented with textured flower profiles to the top, and the other two links have hand-engraved wires folding over the top. The attention to detail is superb! There are original end looped wires, a safety chain and a recent fancy bolt ring clasp attached. Although not the original Victorian clasp, the style works well with the embossed detail, and it secures nicely to the looped wires whilst wearing. Such a striking piece!
The total length of the bracelet measures 20cm (8" inches) and would suit a medium to large sized wrist/hand.
Scottish pebble jewellery was made popular again in the 19th century due to Queen Victoria adorning Scottish jewellery, and her frequent visits to her Scottish Castle Balmoral. For more fascinating Scottish jewellery history head to the Antique Scottish Jewellery blog.
The one-of-a-kind bracelet is such a gorgeous work of art, all totally unique to the wonderful Victorian Scottish age!
