An exquisite antique Scottish bracelet from the Victorian era, c1870! The unique hand-wrought piece is rendered in sterling silver and features bright Cairngorm citrine stones, various jaspagate stones, and a mourning padlock. Alternating are three quatrefoil shaped links, each comprising of various coloured and patterned convex paisley shaped jaspagates, which are all meticulously shaped and polished to form as one, and then set on slate. All stones are claw set and amalgamate beautifully in a flourish of earthy tones, aka "earth rainbow"; The gorgeous earthy tones include various shades of brown, peachy-orange, cream and greys, with all stones native to Scotland. The shield shaped padlock clasp is a work of art unto itself. It features to one side four various jaspagate stones which are beveled to form the 'Saltire' design, and the silver surround has a charming hand engraved pattern. The reverse is plain with a locket and what appears to be plaited hair beneath the glass, likely the sentimental token of a dearly departed loved one. The original safety chain remains for extra security whilst wearing, and the total length of the bracelet measures 20cm (8").
