A gorgeous black opal doublet and white sapphire cluster ring from the late Art Deco era, c1933! Hand made of 9ct rosy yellow gold and silver top, this vintage ring is a stunner on the finger! The Australian opal is simply mesmerizing, predominantly displaying rich blue and iridescent green hues, with a hint of orange/yellow to one corner. The vivid colours flash and shimmer in the daylight superbly. The opal rests in a closed milgrain bezel which has an inscription to the back; "CS 10/11/33 AB" giving an accurate date to the piece! Surrounding the opal are sixteen round old-cut white sapphires that form a sparkling border. Each of the white sapphires are delicately bead set individually, and there is a scalloped rim which finishes the cluster beautifully. Underneath the silver cluster plate features a complementing pierced scalloped undercarriage which is handworked in 9ct gold. A smooth 9ct gold shank with forged knife-edge shoulders make up the rest of the ring. Inside the shank bears the old '9C' stamp, denoting 9ct gold.
The finger size of the ring measures M (Aus) or 6 1/2 (USA).
A vibrant and impressive Australian opal ring! Perfect for the lady born in October (opal birthstone), or for the opal enthusiast!
