The three-dimensional and beautifully textured thistle design consists of layered undulated 'foliage' and features a bright orange paste stone at the top - the stone imitating the Scottish cairngorm! Triangular shaped Montrose agate segments decorate the border, it is cut-out in a star motif on the inside... adding a striking and unique appearance to the piece! The striated blue-gray colored agate stones originate from Scotland's renowned Montrose agate-bearing coastline in the 19th century. Hence the name of this particular agate that is so unique to this form of agate! The rim surface is adorned with hand engraving, adding further texture and charm to this wonderful Victorian piece. A pin and c-loop attach to the back. The brooch measures 4.20cm across.
