A spectacular Australian Nobby opal and diamond ring from the late 20th century! Made of a gleaming 18ct yellow gold, the beautiful ring features a phenomenal solid Nobby opal, along with six glittering diamonds. The natural solid opal was mined from one of the most iconic opal mining towns in New South Wales, Lightning Ridge. Indicative of the extremely deep, aka lump-shaped form - namely "Nobby" weighs approximately 5.79 carats and is a translucent natural crystal type opal. The stunning opal displays a striking broad play of colour with green, blue, purple and yellow's hue's which dance across the dome! The opal rests in a classic bezel collet, and is flanked with a single bar shoulder which is accented with three bead-set diamonds.... adding a gorgeous white sparkling contrast! The upper shank features a triple groove design which forms into a plain smoothly polished shank. The shank measures 5mm wide to 3.30mm wide at base. Crafted to withstand a few heirlooms, the solid and beautifully constructed ring sits comfortably on the finger - sleek and smooth, inner and out!
Upon sale, the estate ring would accompany a photographic valuation certificate for insurance purposes, carried out independently by a registered NCJV/FGAA valuer. The retail replacement value of the ring today would be $ 8,500 AUD.
A magnificent opal and diamond ring. A timeless style which would make a gorgeous engagement ring, dress ring, or birthstone ring. Perfect for any opal lover! Opal is the October birthstone.
