A lovely vintage English fob medallion from the mid 20th century, c1950! Made of sterling silver, the classic oval shaped medallion features a wreath bordered shield to the centre, and four scroll like sections surrounding. Decorative flourishes embellish the top of the medallion, and the unmonogrammed shield allows for custom initials or a personalized message to be engraved. A textured background surface finishes the front design nicely.
To the reverse bears the award message: "ISLE OF THANET MASTER BAKERS ASSOCIATION EXHIBITION 1951". There is also a crisp set of English hallmarks to the back denoting Birmingham origin, year 1950 manufacture, as well as a makers mark "W.A" - which is that of Birmingham silversmith William Adams.
A small jump ring attaches to the very top, allowing it to suspend from a swivel or chain of your choice. The size of the medallion measures 3.50cm length x 2.10cm width.
Today this charming vintage award medallion would make a perfect pendant, layered amongst other vintage necklaces, or just as nice alone!
