A wonderful 19th century Scottish brooch dating from the early Victorian era! Made of gilt metal, the lovely and unique design is distinctive of Scottish pebble jewellery and features a base of natural Montrose agate. The translucent agate is a greyish white hue with subtle vertical banding, it is nicely fashioned in an oval concaved profile and finished with a bevel edge. The agate base is secured within a collet and decorative tubular frame; four segments of Montrose agate and Jasper stones embellish the frame, and there is lovely floral hand engraving in between the stones. Riveted centrally in the agate slab is a chased and jasper accented plaque, adding further charm to this bonnie Scottish brooch!. All stones native to the highlands of Scotland.
