A gorgeous smoky quartz pendant necklace from the mid to late 20th century! Made of 20ct yellow gold this lovely piece features a mid-deep brown 25-carat smoky quartz gemstone at the centre. The smoky quartz is a faceted heart shape and displays subtle green and golden yellow overtones - viewed at varying angles. The internal banding, aka zoning, is indicative of natural material and adds wonderful earth-mined character! The stone rests in a three-claw collet and has a decorative border consisting of multiple 'marquise' shapes, beading and rope detail all forming a uniform pattern. Very eye-catching! The back is open wirework. A tapered bail makes up the rest of the pendant. No stamps to the pendant can be seen, tests indicate solid 20ct gold.
Acquired together, the pendant is nicely complemented with the 18ct gold 16" (41cm) bevel-edge box link necklace. Stamped "750" denoting 18ct gold and and Italian marks.
A unique vintage piece, perfect for any smoky quartz admirer!
