Made in Ireland, this traditional 9ct gold Claddagh ring has beautiful details and clean lines. It is hallmarked with the 'Hibernia mark of Dublin', "R", "9", ".375" and makers mark "DDLt" Also a crisp "MADE IN IRELAND" stamp can be seen on the opposite side inside band. This ring could either be worn by a man or woman.

Betrothal rings depicting two clasped hands date back many centuries in European history. The Irish version, the Claddagh ring, came about in the 1600's and has been produced continually since that time. Traditionally the hands represent friendship, the heart is for love, the crown is for loyalty. These three elements combined create the Claddagh, which is as much a symbol of Ireland as it is of love. These classic rings can be worn by a man or a woman. Worn on the right hand, with the point of the heart towards the fingers, it indicates that the wearer is single. With the point facing the body, it indicates that the wearer is in love. On the left hand, with the heart toward the fingers, means that the wearer is engaged, but facing to the body it means the person is married. These are just guidelines... of course this ring can be worn however you feel most comfortable doing so, perhaps just as stunning, traditional jewellery!

The good sized ring measures 14mm from crown top to heart tip, tapering down to 4.20mm wide at base - sure to be a statement on the finger!
